Unfortunately, what I\'ve said so far is all I can say. If you are fixing things up right now, I don\'t want to mention something you will have already changed.
Just keep posting in Session Zero (SZ) and I\'ll do my best to offer feedback. Keep in mind that I\'m not a master (yet, hehe) and that at best, I am just a mere peer offering his (hopefully) humble opinion and advice.

Show us the version with their pupils. Maybe someone can help you make it work.
Vectors take a specific sort of eye and feel (I'm sure you know) so sometimes you just have to be meticulous. Your vectors as they are look totally unfinished but they're clean thus far.

Honestly, I'd rather use the original cover as a background than what you've made here. The main reason is that your vectors look incomplete and far too minimalized. Get the whites into Sasuke's eyes. He's also missing a triangle highlight on his face (like the one Naruto has). Ironically, Naruto needs the work Sasuke has had. They are both missing pieces to their overall facial figures!

Secondarily, I think you might want to keep Sasuke's garment on because he looks naked. Naruto's wearing clothes. The split-screen is like you are basically declaring symmetry so keep the continuity and either have both guys garment-less or clothed. It just looks sort of imbalanced.
Also, the white highlights in their hair are unnecessary. I'd stick with the original cover and work with that. If you keep the highlights, they will only complicate your efforts.

To me, split-screen walls are distracting. Functionally, it's hard for such a wall to be appealing. If you use one side to hold your icons, the other side will have more emphasis and the overall detail you hoped to showcase will seem lessened.

Lastly, while the backgrounds you created for each side are somewhat interesting, they're taking away from the mood. Darker tones would be more appropriate for the characters' facial expressions. I mean, if you're going to change something, you gotta top what you're changing.
